  1. When can I sign up?
You can sign up for our lessons or classes at any time! Check out our registration page for more information or contact us.

  2. Can I start lessons or join a class in the middle of the month?
Yes you can! The same policy applies to joining a group class in the middle of the month. Click here to view our registration page.

  3. How old does my child need to be to receive private or semi-private lessons?
Children need to be at least 30 months before they can sign up for the private or semi-private lessons. Children 6 months-36 months are welcome to join our Baby & Me programs.

  4. Why is our pool good for teaching lessons and classes?
Our pool is on average 90 degrees, which is perfect for teaching lessons to children (and adults) because it is warm and comforting. The pool length is 16 yards, so small children won't be scared at the vastness of the water as they could be with larger pools. A large stair case descends into the pool which is a perfect place for the kids to sit and get accustomed to the water, pool and instructor.

  5. How long should my child attend lessons/classes?
You can have your child attend lessons for as long as you see fit. You will need to have a goal in mind when the lesson begin, as to whether your child is taking lessons to be comfortable in the water, to improve their strokes/confidence and/or to prepare them to join the Penguin Swim Team. Each participant's lesson is catered to fit their needs and goals.

  6. The participant in mind for the lessons is afraid of the water, how can you help them?
At FSS we offer lessons to all abilities and have techniques to ensure that the participants gain more confidence in the water. Over the past 3 years, we have helped many participants overcome their fear of the water. It is important to make water time a fun experience, and never a forced one.

  7. How do I change my lesson days and times?
If you need to change your lesson times, contact us by phone or email. More details about changes and cancellations can be found on our registration page.

  8. Can I request a specific instructor?

  9. Why only 30 minute lesson?

  10. Can I sign up for more then one lesson a week?
Yes, you can sign up for more then one lesson a week! We have several families that come to the center twice-a-week for lessons.

  11. Can my child take lessons with a friend?
Yes! We offer lessons for 1, 2, 3, or 4 people, and it is up to you to decide how many people are in your lesson. It is best if the children in the lesson are close to the same skill level.
