SWIM INSTRUCTOR Information - (currently hiring)

Job Description:
Farber Swim School is currently hiring instructors to teach in their indoor, 90-degree, saltwater pools! We have one location in Beaverton and another in SW Portland, within a mile of each other. Once hired, instructors will go through our paid training program, before they teach on their own. Prior swim teaching is not required. We look for individuals that love swimming and are passionate about working with people!

About FSS Lessons:

  • We primarily teach Private (1 student) and Semi-private (2 students) lessons. The only group classes are Baby & Me Classes (4months–36 months) & Adult Classes (you choose whether to train for these).
  • Most of our private students are between the ages of 4 and 15 and are learning basic skills and/or strokes. If you choose to take special training to teach 3-years-and-under, Baby & Me groups, Adults, Team swimmers, or Additional Needs students, you will receive a pay raise with each extra specialty.
  • Lessons & Classes are catered to the individual, so you will truly get to know your students and see them progress under your instruction!
  • The FSS office handles scheduling and payments.
  • Instructors can work up to other positions such as: Senior Instructors and Coordinators.

About FSS Staff:

  • We typically have around 30 staff, 24 being instructors.
  • Instructor ages vary a lot! We have a few in high school, but the majority of instructors are out of college, including some who have retired from their career jobs.
  • Our swim parents love the diversity of our staff. 

Possible Hours:

  • Between 5–35 hours available
  • Weekday & Weekend hours available
  • If you work in the office as well, full time is possible. Benefits kick in at 35 hours/week (accident insurance, stipend, etc.)

Applicants Must:

  • Enjoy working with people of all ages
  • Have a passion for swimming and being in the water
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 6 months working specific shift(s) agreed upon at hire

Compensation:
Is based on Experience. Range $16.00–$20.00 (or DOE)

OFFICE ASSISTANT Information - (currently hiring)

Job Description:

Farber Swim School is a growing family-owned business dedicated to providing a family feel in all their customer interactions. This year we celebrated 12 years in business and our swim programs are growing faster than ever! Because we’re keeping so busy we are looking to add a talented and enthusiastic person to our office staff. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greeting customers
  • Answering phones & emails
  • Scheduling swim lessons
  • Taking payments
  • Database entry & filing
  • General office and facility cleaning
  • Projects and other duties as assigned

Candidate should:

  • Be self-motivated
  • Have experience working with children
  • Type at least 50wpm
  • Have superior in-person and phone customer service experience
  • Be able to switch tasks quickly & stay calm in our fast-paced office
  • Be a quick learner
  • Be detail-oriented and have a drive to complete daily tasks with accuracy
  • Have at least 2+ years of previous office administrative experience
  • Supervisory experience is a plus

More Information:

  • Hours are at both of our locations in Beaverton & Portland (only 2 miles apart).
  • Benefits kick in at 35 hours/week (50% off lessons, $150 stipend, accident policy, phone reimbursement, etc.)

TEAM COACH Information - (currently hiring)

The Penguin Pee Wees is a pre-swim team for ages 5-9 year olds. They practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-5:30pm at our SW Portland location. The team does participate in swim meets and dive clinics throughout the season.

  • Prior coaching experience
  • Obtain/have current CPR/First Aid within 60 days of employment start date
  • Bonus: Lifeguard Certification
  • A personal love of the water, swimming, and working with young people
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of 6 months working specific shift(s) agreed upon at hire
